Porky Pig Diner: Reviews & Ratings
Drove here all the way from North Carolina to try this place. The customer service was amazing, that small town southern charm. The food was hot and tasted really good. This is a hidden gem in Kentucky, I love these type of mom and pop restaurants. It’s like a moment frozen in time; nostalgic. Highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed.
Such a terrific country breakfast. Sausage gravy was just right and the eggs were cooked to a perfect over medium. Hardworking owners who have ran this place for decades. It’s important for new visitors to know that the pricing shown on their wall mounted menu have not been updated in some time. Regardless, it’s still a good value and a great country style mom and pop meal. The interior is decorated with lots of unique pig knickknacks, most of which have been donated to them by customers over the years. This place is in the Kentucky hills not Beverly Hills, so don’t expect ambiance.
I absolutely love little places like this. Out of the way, mom and pop sort of businesses. Dining room is way bigger than the outside implies. Unless directed otherwise, grab a seat/table when you walk in. Our waiter was easily old enough to be my dad, and treated us like family. He loves to chat, so you’ve been warned. Ask what the specials are. He did tell us their roast beef Manhattan was a popular choice but that you couldn’t go wrong with the fish. My buddy and I opted for the catfish plate and were blown away by how yummy it was. Huge portions too! They dry roll the fish in seasonings and likely some sort of corn meal. Not greasy at all! So freaking good!! Our plates came with a helping of fries and bowl of slaw. But we both made sure to finish our catfish, so the fries and slaw didn’t get finished. Oh and hush puppies too. Looks like they serve breakfast as well, if that helps you out during the morning hours. I’d gladly go out of my way to visit Porky Pig Diner again! :-)
This is a good local spot that offers a verity of finely cooked foods at a valuable price with a family felt customer service that brings comfort to our hearts… thank you
Absolutely blown away by this restaurant. I saw a TikTok talking about this restaurant struggling, decided to go support them. I’m so happy that I did. Yes, this place is literally in the middle of nowhere. The food is phenomenal though, we were so pleased with everything we ordered. Service was also amazing! Please go visit this diner, you will not regret it. I’ll definitely be back!
Porky Pig Diner located in the community of Pig Kentucky is a Hidden Gem. I know that sounds so cliche however, I stopped in for Breakfast this morning before heading out on a Hike at the Adjacent Mammoth Cave National Park and I was expecting the average mediocre service that most places offer nowadays and this was not what I received. In fact the waitress approached my table as soon as she saw me and asked me what I was having to drink . I had black coffee. She took my order and once again I was expecting to have to wait forever on my food which seems to be the standard nowadays, however before I could even get my phone scrolling good she had returned with my hot plate of food , I was actually noticeably surprised. I had a full order of gravy and biscuits with a side of 2 scrambled eggs along with 2 sausage patties I also grabbed a 12 ounce can of Mt.Dew to go with my meal ( all of which was very good). My coffee was replenished without having to ask and the overall service was amazing. And when it was time to pay I was thinking ( BOHICA ) the military people will get that acronym if not just Google it. But my bill was $7.90 , I had the exact same meal in Park City and it was over 15 dollars and the same Meal in Metcalfe County Kentucky it was almost 17 dollars and the quality wasn’t as good. So I do recommend that you check them out if you’re in the Mammoth Cave, Brownsville or Smiths Grove areas.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! 10/10 definitely recommend! The staff are very attentive and friendly. Our drinks did not run low one time, food came out fast and hot. The Sunday family style setting was amazing and a first for us. The owners, Jason and Donna are wonderful people and greet every customer with a smile and cheer that automatically makes you feel comfortable. We will probably be making Sunday dinner with them a weekly thing! My kids (6 & 8 years old) are semi picky eaters and they enjoyed everything..the chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, baked beans and the greens. They didn’t try our meatloaf but it was sooo good. I’m picky with meatloaf, I can admit I only like mine or my mom’s meatloaf and when I say the first bite was sooo familiar I’m not lying…made almost to a T of how my mom makes hers. If you haven’t tried, you are missing out!!
We loved this small off the path diner. It wasn't much to look at,, but was delicious and inexpensive. Our waitress was great! I had the pulled pork and my husband had all you can eat catfish. He could only eat one plate. We had just been to Mammoth Cave, KY and this was close by.
